24 October 1947,
Walt Disney denounced in the United States the workers he considered communists in his company, in the Anti-American Activities Commission. The persecution of leftists working in the film industry began. Many famous stars were considered “potential communists.”
Many people in industry refused to participate in the Commission and to denounce their colleagues. These include Humphrey Bogart or Frank Sinatra. Disney said the colleagues who participated and worked for union were communists. They were marked forever in the industry.
