Baldomero Spartero prohibited the use of boin during the First Carlist War. The head of the liberal army of Araba, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa published in Logroño on the side below, moreover, indicated that they would severely penalize what they captured with the beret.
But the order wasn't very successful. Six months later, Bergara's hug took place. In 1940, the foral deputy Valentín Olano stated at the Madrid Congress that “it would be easier to remove the head than the beret”.
