07 September 1936,
The last Tasmanian tiger or marsupial wolf dies in Benjamin. At the Hobarte Zoo, the island's capital, he gave the last breath of all this species. It is believed that he died due to the precarious conditions of the zoo, because not only did he eat poorly, but he was not protected from extreme temperatures. At the time of European colonization, there were about 5,000 of this species in Tasmania. The Europeans took the sheep, but by imputing the attack of the native animal they started hunting until they made it disappear.
