03 March 1794,
All the citizens of Sara, Itsasu and Azkaine and the authorities of Ezpeleta, Ainhoa, Zuraide, Cambo and Makea said in Paris the desire of the “suspects”. Due to the poor reception of the French Revolution in the Northern Basque Country, especially for acts against religion and the Basque Country, revolutionary power took action. Accused of fanaticism and sincerity, between 4,000 and 10,000 people were exiled and robbed of their property, whether children or elderly, healthy or sick. Those who survived returned to their villages in September and saw that the goods had been stolen from them.
