10 July 1985,
The Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior boat was exploited by the French secret services in New Zealand. The boat, caught in the city of Aucland, was in the midst of a campaign against the nuclear tests being carried out by the French in the Pacific. Two underwater explosives were placed. Photographer Fernando Pereira, 36, was killed. The case became an international scandal, commissioned by Charles Hernu and with the approval of François Mitterrand, when it was discovered that the government was involved. Two French officers were arrested by the New Zealand police.
