17 March 1516,
The Navarros legitimists began the second attempt to recover the Kingdom of Navarre from the Castilian people. Animated by the king of France, nearly 5,000 soldiers from Navarre and Bearno joined two teams led by the king of Navarre and Marshal Pedro. When news broke out, there were uprisings in several localities, the largest in Olite and Sangüesa. However, the initial success stopped quickly. Due to a storm, Marshal Peter's troops had problems along the mountain and Castilian troops blocked the king's team at Donibane Garazi.
