Merit was granted to the civil guard Gómez Nieto who tortured Lasa and Zabala. It was only two months since Joxean Lasa and Joxi Zabala disappeared, and twelve years after they were tortured and killed, and the Official Gazette of Spain published that Sergeant Pedro Gómez Nieto was granted the Order of Merito of the Civil Guard. In some recordings that extended to the years you hear how you first confessed that the two youths were tortured and pierced their graves before shooting. He was never convicted or tried, but promoted. In 2015, it was discovered that it lived in Honduras and wrote in its main right media.
