Madeleine Riffaud was born in Arvillers, France. He was a poet and journalist and fought the Nazis. On the day he turned 20 in 1944, a resistance group led by him stopped the supply of a Nazi train in Paris, where 80 German soldiers were taken hostage by grenade and rockets.
