Kizkitza was born in San Sebastian, an important nationalist writer and politician. Born in Engrazio Aranzadi, he participated in the nationalist magazine Bizkaitarra, and precisely by an article written in it he had to take refuge in Hendaia, becoming the first nationalist refugee. After the death of Sabino Arana, due to tensions between the party and the church, Kizkitza, a Benedictine friar, was expelled for a while.
