21 July 1983,
Police in street clothes exploded the beginning of Errenteria festivities beating the citizens. Waiting for the sucking, about 1,000 people met in front of the city hall.
The mayor of the PSOE, José María Gurruchaga, announced that he was going to put the Spanish flag on the town hall and the HB had called the protest in front of him. About 60 policemen dressed on the street in the afternoon occupied the plaza, and a few minutes away from the sucking, when many citizens and agents began to discuss, they began to glue the citizens indiscriminately. Images of police who played oreretarras of all ages with clubs and shackles that provoked a great popular anger.
The mayor cast the nuance in the company of the police and councilors of the PSOE. Many of the town’s drapes left the parade and those who marched modified the route so as not to go ahead of the city hall.
