Juan Calvo Azabal was killed in the police station of the Ertzaintza de Arkaute (Álava). The body had dozens of blows, tears, bruises and wounds. The doctors who tried to revive had to put on masks for the consequences of Calvo's gas. In 1995, eight Ertzaines were sentenced for recklessness: six years ' imprisonment, one to ten days ' imprisonment and six years ' imprisonment. In 1996 the Supreme Court reduced the sentence of its head to one year. Nobody stepped into jail or lost their job. There was no confession or resignation.
