06 April 1969,
EGI members Jokin Artajo and Alberto Asurmendi died while preparing in Ultzama the bomb against the monument that the founder of the Civil Guard had in Pamplona. Two young Navarros from the youth organization of the PNV belonged to a command that carried out actions against the Franco symbols and before, for example, their group paralyzed the Vuelta a España in 1968, dynamizing a small bridge from Urbasa. It was the Aberri Eguna and the PNV opened the slogan of staying at home to boycott Franco. Following the accident, five people were arrested and sentenced for “military rebellion” and four others had to be exiled. For years the delegation of the Government of Navarra has put obstacles and prohibitions to pay tribute to Artajo and Asurmendi.
