23 July 2001,
The City Hall started the underground parking of the Plaza del Castillo de Pamplona. Led by Yolanda Barcina, the plan was approved a few months earlier with the votes of UPN, PSN and CDN, despite the opposition of thousands of citizens. Irregularities in the development and award of the project were numerous. As the excavation progressed, archaeological remains of different eras appeared in the heart of Pamplona, including the Romans. However, they did not stop the works and destroyed 75% of the found remains.
