21 March 1982,
Women in the peaceful camp against the British military base of Greenham Common organized a musical festival that ran the risk of eviction. The following day, 250 women blocked the military base for 24 hours. 34 women were arrested. Angry at the government's decisions to conserve nuclear weapons at the base, in September 1981 a group of Welsh women marched to it and when they saw that they were unable to keep their attention, they began a camp. In 2000, the government closed the base.
