30 November 1539,
Juan Zumarraga, Mexican inquisitor, ordered the burning alive of an Aztec citizen for “worshipping the old gods of his culture.” There's no more information about the person who was killed, only he was baptized and called Carlos.
Zumarraga was Basque, born in Durango and since 1535 was bishop and principal inquisitor of Mexico.
