The Civil Guard entered the offices of the Herrira Association and detained 18 people. The Spanish National Court tried to connect the institution that worked for the human rights of Basque prisoners with ETA. The Spanish Government described it as ETA tentacle. In protests over the police operation there were incidents involving several wounded. Among them, Amalur Mendizabal, Senator of the Amaiur coalition, beaten by the Ertzaintza in Hernani. Two years earlier, on 20 October 2011, ETA declared the final cessation of the armed struggle and Herrira spent the whole summer heating up the huge demonstration in favor of the prisoners in January.
