They began the Salt March in India, presided over by Mahatma Gandhi. After almost 300 kilometres, it ended on 6 April. Civil disobedience was a great exercise involving thousands of Indians. The first objective was to fight against the law that guaranteed the monopoly of salt to the British, and when Gandhi produced salt by evaporating water from the sea before all, broke the law and caused massive civil disobedience, because millions of Indians began to do the same. The British arrested 60,000 people during their operation. It was an important protest on the road to the independence of the country.
