16 May 1945,
The French killed the Algerians Setif and Guelman, II. The very day of the triumph of the World War. The Algerians who demonstrated in Setif for independence argued that the war should abolish the colonial order. Police shooting at the demonstration caused 103 settlers to be killed by Algerians in the European areas of the city. In view of this, both the police and French civilians made revenge on the supremazists who, according to some historians, killed over 20,000 people. These indiscriminate atrocities would lead the country to the war of independence in 1954.
