47 young people from Itsasu were deserted from the French army, fleeing the Baztan. Accused of helping these young people to cross the border, the young Manex Etxeberri and Taulo Garat guillotined in the image refugees in Paris, and two weeks later, the inhabitants of the villages of Sara, Azkaine, Ainhoa, Itsasu, Ezpeleta and Zuraide were exiled. Between 4,000 and 10,000 Basques left their homes forcing them to walk hundreds of kilometres. The event is known as the deportation of robbers. At least 1,600 people died on the road and stole property to many.
