06 May 1968,
In France, the first incidents of May 68 began in Paris. Faced with rising unemployment and falling wages, Sorbonne students mobilized to demand the freedom of students who were arrested in Nanter for actions against the Vietnam War.
When they were going to testify at the University's Disciplinary Committee, the students protested and the police reacted violently.
Solidarity spread throughout the country in the coming days and the students were joined by the labor movement.
