Eustachian Mendizabal Txikia was killed by the Spanish Police by pulling his back at Algorta. He had not been running away for many years, but in a short time he had made a great fame. He was one of ETA’s most prominent leaders. He fled north in 1968. From a Burgos Trial, his years of secrecy encompass preparations for the murder of Carrero Blanco. He promoted activism within ETA and was charged with the first kidnappings of Consul Beihl and businessman Huarte. He was a passionate Basque and wrote several poems, although those of recent times are lost. This death hit the Basque society and was misled in many places. He was 28 years old.
