The policy of dispersion against Basque political prisoners in the Spanish State ends

The policy of dispersion against Basque political prisoners in the Spanish state ended. The Spanish prison leadership brought the last five scattered prisoners closer to the prisons of the Basque Country and ended the policy of dispersion initiated in 1989. As for the French State, most EPPK prisoners were transferred to Lannemezán prison. Despite the dispersal, for many years, political prisoners continued to receive visits every weekend, among others, accompanied by the collective of voluntary drivers Mirentxin, to their family and friends in prisons. In total, the dispersion resulted in the death of sixteen family members and friends of the prisoners, killed in car accidents during long journeys.
