21 August 1892,
The Zazpiak bat shield of Euskal Herria was publicly exposed for the first time. It was the framework of the international celebrations of the Basque Country held in San Juan de Luz, in a poster designed by Jean Jaurgain. He accompanied the motto Zazpiak bat, promoted by Antoine Abadía. It should be noted that Zuberoa and Lapurdi still did not have their shields, so Jaurgain completed them with the weapons of the Vizcondes of Zuberoa and with the symbols of Urruña and Uztaritz. The success of the motto was almost immediate and soon began to appear in the cultural and political acts of the Basques.
