25 December 1970,
German honorary consul Eugen Beihl was released after being kidnapped by ETA V. In the Burgos Process, ETA V carried out a pressure action. The main objective was to provide international coverage of the situation of the Basque Country. He was kidnapped in Montori in Zuberoa. At one point Beihl managed to escape, went to a bar to ask for help and those in the bar realized who he was, entered a car and took it back to ETA members. Before the ruling of the Burgos Process came out, Beihl’s liberation exerted greater pressure on the Franco regime and ETA’s generosity for many.
