21 August 1960,
Ernest Hemingway authorized José Artetxe to translate the novel Agurea eta itsasoa into Basque. In the preamble of the book, Artetxe narrates the deception with the American writer, how he was waiting for his return from the bulls and how he approached him at the Hotel María Cristina in San Sebastián. When he explained his intention, because he was in Basque, he told him he would charge for the rights. In 1963, the novel translated by Anjel Goenaga was published.
