28 September 2000,
The second intifada begins in Palestine. The head of the Israeli opposition, Ariel Sharon, lit the fire, went to the holy mosque for the Palestinians Al-Aqsa, surrounded themselves with soldiers and beat the citizens.
In the first few hours hundreds of protests were gathered, throwing shoes and stones. The response of the Israeli military led to the spread of protests across Palestine, as the following day the Israeli police killed seven people in the Al-Aqsa external protests.
The Intifada lasted until 2005 and was more violent and militarized than the former. In the first of them the main image was that of the young stone-throwing protesters, in the second the Israeli response almost prevented such an image. Amos Malka, head of the Israeli military intelligence, said that the first month of this intifada shot 1.3 million shots at the Palestinians.
A year later, the Palestinians began to attack suicides.
Here are some iconic photos of the Second Intifada.
