500 residents of the Aranguren Valley were self-charged with two neighbors who had to judge at a macro judgment. Two years earlier, in April 1990, the protest against the Góngora landfill was attacked by the Civil Guard and was attributed to its involvement in subsequent incidents.
The self-indictment campaigns served to oppose the trial and to show solidarity with the accused.
