15 July 1522,
The armies of Castile and Aragon began the siege of the castle of Amaiur. In it the third attempt to recover the Kingdom of Navarre conquered ten years ago by Henry II ended. In peacetime, the position had eighteen warriors, but in those days some 200 Navarran warriors met to defend Amaiur’s position. The Spanish expedition of 7,000 warriors surrounded and attacked them, in a site that lasted a week.
