12 July 1512,
The Duke of Alba sent an alarm in Vitoria with thousands of soldiers willing to attack the Kingdom of Navarra. They counted 5,319 spears and 6,200 pedestrians. At first, the permission to go through Navarre was the one they requested to go to the war against France. However, he took the opportunity to welcome the Kingdom of Navarre in a military manner, while the Navarros were not yet prepared to respond to the aggression. The Castilians had over 15,000 soldiers to cope with a kingdom of 100,000 inhabitants.
