This wedge that the announcement on the radio Euskadi to replace the bathtub with a shower encourages the commencement of the works in the bathroom of the house. A simple work, a small investiture and a great change are announced. There has been a shift in toilet trends and a verbal spread of how comfortable and spacious the toilet is when you don’t need to remove the bidet, put on the bidet hose, and lift the shower leg.
The place that we have given to the commune is the result of the cultural load that it receives independently. It is a corner of the house where the cleanliness of the body, the decoration and nudity of the head and face, glups, is not a little. There are great things to do there but it is not usually the most preferred or cared for room in the house, mainly because we ask it to be functional. We have lost the habit of having the bathroom as a part of the facade of the house, since with mechanical ventilation we can release the smell and humidity in the same way, we have penetrated the dark areas of the house and we have de-sized it. Once separated from the natural light, what happens in it is temporary functional, losing the sense of taking a bath for relaxation.
But the functionality of the toilet does not detract from the intimate value of the toilet. It is usually a room with castings and for many it is a domestic space to get away from the world. And we cannot forget the great value of seeing our face and naked body every day in front of the mirror. But perhaps with the intention of cutting off the emotional contact with the bathroom, we have refused to make the bathroom beautiful. To do this, the bathroom has to acquire another spatial value in the house in order to acquire an aesthetic interest. The recovery of natural light in the bathrooms is essential, if not with a window, through transversal walls and the creation of some visual connection with the spaces of the house. By being a deposit of nudity we have made the bathroom of the house closed and out of sight of others, inheriting a rigid spatial idea of privacy. If there is something in the bathroom of the house that revolves around the nudity and the revolution will have spatial consequences, rest assured.
