We are in the midst of a world imperialist offensive led by the Western bourgeoisie. The form that the imperialist offensive has taken is that of war, with all its variants: economic war, cognitive and cultural war, lawfarr; and, of course, military war. Western imperialism has updated Clausewitz’s conceptualization and gone further: war is not only “politics by other means”; politics, culture, economy and algorithm, among others, are ultimately war by other means.

The fronts of the global war in which we are currently living are multiplying: Abya Yala, East Asia, the Sahel, the Maghreb, Eastern Europe, Western Asia... and they are increasingly linked to each other. Although the main way of carrying out the imperialist offensive in recent decades has been a low-intensity war, in recent years it has become increasingly clear that all the fronts of the "soft war" have shown a tendency to unite in a total military war on a world scale. An indication of this is the qualitative escalation in Eastern Europe and the expansion of the Zionist offensive in Western Asia. Or, at the recent NATO summits, the strategic documents signed by the representatives of Europe and the Atlanticist bourgeoisie, where they have clearly opted for war economies, rearmament, increased military spending and the need to prepare for a global conflict.

The state of war and the capitalist crisis in which we live have greatly accelerated the systemic contradictions. But with the expansion of the destructive force of imperialism, the struggles of decolonization and national liberation are also intensifying, especially in the Global South. This directly questions the popular movements and organizations of the imperialist center and the Basque Country. Faced with the war of survival of the Western bourgeoisie, we in the Basque Country have two urgent tasks: on the one hand, to organize solidarity with all the working people who fight against imperialism, defending their right to resistance; on the other, to take advantage of the contradictions generated by the war to reorganize themselves as working classes and peoples, stimulating the struggle for class and national liberation in the Basque Country. We need to update and land the Leninist slogan and strategy of revolutionary defeatism in order to transform the imperialist war into a class war.

The Western bourgeoisie has declared war on the world. Let us therefore wage war on the bourgeoisie and its imperialist war!
