Budgets and the closure of annual accounts are nothing more at this time, from the domestic economy to most of the socio-economic spaces that we share. Large companies have begun to extract calculators and implement major plans for 2025. Small and medium-sized institutions and agents, here, wanting to know where to get money and challenges. Because we have big projects and dreams, and too many pockets full of holes.
Support for young people and networks has created the conditions for building alternatives. But dependence on aid is a huge risk for projects that want to be sovereign.
The picture that surrounds us for the new year is scarce: Siemens Gamesa will dismiss 423 workers, Astilleros Balenciaga will enter the creditors’ competition, SDA Factory in Vitoria-Gasteiz will close its doors, BSH will dismiss 660 workers from Esquiroz... and the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa has decided to remove the companies of the social economy from the territory. Among other things, it has decided not to support the Koopfabrika entrepreneurship programme promoted by the Olatukoop network, and has stabbed both training and cooperative empowerment. The cold of winter has brought us to the bones, putting at risk cooperative and transformative projects.
Thanks to the subsidies, many projects with doubtful viability in capitalist terms have been able to be carried out. Support for young people and networks has created the conditions for building alternatives. But dependence on aid is a huge risk for projects that want to be sovereign. That is why networks such as Koop57 are so important, so that social change does not depend on the policies of the right.
We therefore invite you to join Koop57, but also to support and strengthen us this winter. The transformative social economy needs care, because working-class struggle needs the strength of all. Repression!
