Excuse for fraud
LANBIDE has launched an anti-fraud campaign in Income Guarantee Income and has created an anonymous whistleblower. Responding to the criticisms received, he said that this mailbox was merely an instrument for ordering complaints and notifications. It does not promote class reading or criminalisation of the vulnerable, and it is not intended to encourage police work among citizens.
The truth is that I was not particularly surprised by this last campaign. I wasn't surprised that the system tries to criminalize vulnerable groups over and over again, because it's easy, cheap and safe. Fraud in Income Guarantee Income is an old, widespread and misleading issue: With a fraud rate of 0.7%, it is a smoke cloud.
Perhaps, if the Lanbide campaign has something good, it is that the opportunity has been given to talk about tools for complaints and complaints. In fact, since the end of 2023, “ethical reporting channels” have already been legally regulated. These channels seek to promote the transparency and ethical attitudes of companies and institutions, ensuring the security and confidentiality of the complainant. It can be a very useful tool in cases where there are shortcomings in lower trade union organisations or in monitoring and harassment protocols. In fact, the fear of denouncing is one of the great limits to denounce the persecution experienced in the Basque Country.
However, there does not seem to be such a good objective behind the Lanbide initiative. I think it has more to boost the discourse of the extreme right and the class struggle than social cohesion and community care.
