It is common to create music groups in the circle of youth, and in Arrasate even more. But keeping a team in shape requires a lot of effort and commitment, and if you don't throw away, time causes the initial force to blur. That is why I was surprised when I learned about the return of Maniaks and the release of the album. The trio comes with desire and seems to have very clear ideas.
Maniaks was formed around 2011 and, although occasionally a few were made straight, he has been asleep for a long time. Thus, now, with the incorporation of different ideas and styles and the appearance of a renewed group with another battery, Atxi de Never Surrender, has been one of the most innovative groups.
Attachment to punk and oh! It's gone a long way from the past; and even though they already have it in DNA, they're now very motivated by other sonorities.
There are six songs that make up the first work, all sung in Euskera, with a prominent voice presence and in just three minutes. It is noteworthy and congratulating that in the rock-and-roll arena you have chosen to sing all the songs in Basque. The Devil is in charge of spreading the work elegantly: a powerful punk rock with a lot of weight in the melody, which has reminded us in the Hellacopters riffs and in some rhythms of Death – generations’ harvests. Laberinatu, on the contrary, has the essence of oh! And the roots, but also, for example, the vocal dictation of Vicent von Reverb, always with brilliant guitars. In Color Programs is also present the punk rock intense, sticky and melodic.
The B side of the album unfolds the hit! Zainetan, energetic inside the punk rock-and-roll, with the rock-principles of Dreggen and Nicke and the essence of absences such as Powder Monkeys. Then, in the rebel Heart, affinities and melodies of those who opened the path of hardcore melodic in the European underground, oh! Rocanera guitars and memories come together. And to close the album, besides working on the tempos of the last mohicans, the melancholy and the clean guitars of the 1980s, they take a step further in the voice.
