Chill Mafia has been buried in the era opened by the Mafia Chill. That not everything has to last forever is something that is clearer than everything. And that now is better than persevering. The insolence they recovered makes us have Alesardui's song, and hopefully a new phase of chancellery begins.
But let's go back. It is one thing to say goodbye to a project and another to say goodbye to a stage. The Chill Mafia put a new model on the table. He revolutionized the Basque scene with new and authoritative models. There's a new generation reading time with their own voice. The Locals were the gunpowder of the explosion that caused the pospandemia. And now we're on a different stage, after less than three years.
But it's not enough to have a goblin. A project is needed to move forward. The project of some groups is to follow a style, that of others is a marketing strategy, and others are closer to a political-aesthetic project. Ah, but if there is no content in the latter, the team loses its way.
Without much knowledge, I dare say that the Chill Mafia achieved tremendous success in the interview with the new wave of Spain and that two lines differed. Neo-bakalism, neo-punk and hyperpopa guidelines; and, on the other hand, the new dialect: old samples and new jotas. I see my colleagues in the clash between those two lines, and I would say that that clash was the one that annulled the Chill Mafia.
I thought about Albert Pla. With the death of footballer and attacker Maradona, the media tried to justify his death, which had to leave the drug addiction and focus on football. And Pla says no. “I don’t care about Maradona’s football facet. What matters to me is, precisely, their addicted part.” Doesn't it look like the Chill Mafia? (I'm not talking about drugs.) It doesn't matter how many rooms the Mafia Chill occupies, how many songs, how many colabos. What I was interested in was their ability to romanticize. What without that?
They get fired with a sad record. But it is clear that they have regained the conviction that in Euskal Herria things can be done differently. And it's clear that it was valuable and that these young people are also going to serve in other sauces. Thank you for the resurrection!
