I don't know if we're hit by heat waves anymore, if it's a normal hypocrisy or a systemic logic, but the gap between what we know, what we say and what we do, beyond concern, surprises me, especially in a summer environment. News, research, social media interactions… constitute a crazy and seemingly disconnected succession. Today we receive the news of a study which tells us that, as a result of the extreme heat, 43,000 people died in Europe last year, and tomorrow we are told with joy that tourism has broken records. Yesterday the CO2 emissions inventory of Araba, Gipuzkoa and Bizkaia was published, after verifying that emissions have increased by 4.7%, and today the roads (and petrol stations) of cars have been filled and the skies of aircraft have been filled. Some of those who throughout the year have used the growth as war cries have today hung on social media photos full of tourism from remote corners.
Energy self-sufficiency in the CAPV is only 8.7% ugly, or the opposite, 91.3% of the energy we consume comes from outside
In any case, for me, which has almost gone unnoticed, the last energy balance of the Basque Energy Agency has once again been the publication that has worried me the most. The data are so scarce, that I have been as denounceable as I understand my publication in the confusion of the summer. There's some data that may be scary, but I'll highlight three. One, that 47% of the energy used comes from the combustion of oil; two, that the energy self-sufficiency in the CAPV is 8.7% miserable, or the opposite, that 91.3% of the energy we consume comes from outside; and three, that only 6.6% of the electricity we consume comes from local renewable sources. This is particularly serious because, in addition to a strong dependence on electricity produced abroad, most of the electricity generated comes from the combustion of gas. And, of course, we cannot forget that every megawatt from gas burning has far more CO2 emissions than from renewable sources, according to the international panel on climate change. Specifically, 44 times more than the wind. That must also be taken into account in the debates we are giving, right?
Contradicting the contradictions, the new course is coming and paraphrasing the famous micro-story of Augusto Monterroso [when he awoke, the dinosaur was still there], we can say that at this time when our holidays are running out, the problems are still there, with a less summer to deal with the ecological crisis. Please, let us continue to debate without neglecting the size and complexity of the problem.

When we were young, we had a thousand games to play on a day-to-day basis. Some of us played running, some of us played with the ball, the dolls, the rubber or the words. There's a game where we played with words, I've realized it's going to be for life. We don't realize that we're... [+]

I was once in the burial of a friend's father. Our friend asked us to take a flower from the bouquets, if they wanted to. I can't say no to flowers, let alone roses, especially red flowers. So I took a beautiful red rose.
