Empathy as the axis

The concern for the removal of an important part of the society of the country from positive attitudes towards Euskera among the people who speak Basque in Navarre dates back to time immemorial, which hinders the survival and revitalization of Euskera. Thus, three years ago, the initiative that was set in motion in the document published last month was launched.
In short, it is about offering “assiduous ways to change the perceptions and positions in favor of the Basque country to a group of people who today do not feel attached to the Basque country”. Its authors have not prevented the collisions between different State projects or the interests of the parties from affecting this issue. On the contrary, they consider it convenient to locate “what relates to the revitalization of the Basque country outside this whirlpool” and propose “to look beyond the traditional dichotomous view from the clash between national identities”. They consider it important that “transmitting to the society of Navarra an attitude favorable to the Basque country, beyond being a thing of the nationalists, is a political position: pluralism, equality, coexistence, standardization and authoritarianism”. This, for them, “should help build new alliances and complicity.”

The objective of “seeking and caring for allies” is, therefore, to “empathize” with them. To do so, in each case, the importance of “marking the priorities well and measuring the impact of the proposed initiative”, that is, “measuring the balance between the social impact of the initiative and the benefit it will bring” is recalled.
Of course things come when it is then put into practice. It is not always easy to guess what needs to be done in the task of bringing attitudes in favor of the Basque country closer to those who do not matter or are far away. It is easier than not to do, because it is so obvious.
