There are seven stories that make up this book for young people written by Aitor Arana. Arana’s production is plentiful and well-known; he has written over 125 books, some of them of terror, including the stories that make up Beldurrak airean. Aitor Arana has created the book's accounts from stories of vampires, immortality, demons or spirits that kill people with the air of classical horror traditions.
The reader will therefore be faced with stories of different styles. Soon discover what novel or superstition Arana is about. It starts… because the end intends to surprise and trap the reader in all cases. That is the merit of these stories, to link the reader to the story in a relatively short story and to continue reading until it is surprised at the end. In any case, although the stories are varied, in all of them the work of the writer is noted; fleeing from skills, using an Basque care and, at the same time, a fluid reading, Arana manages to catch the reader in the argument, in the narrative and in history, without finding great difficulties and obstacles in this task.
We have said that they are stories of terror, and in that they have to look at the arguments, the facts, the descriptions of them, sometimes with gross details. As in the case of the narrator who wants to be a vampire and is buried: “The destruction of my viscera has reached an indescribable level. Parenchymes, that is, the butters' tissues, I have them very small: they are becoming spills. My liver is already a greenish-tanned material and the brain is just a grey-greenish greenish greenish mass.”
There are many references to universal literature (Oscar Wilde, E. A. Poe, Defore, Dickens, E. King, P. Straub), to cinema and to our culture, all this further enriches this book of Aitor Arana, the secret of eternal youth, ghosts, immortality, the mystery that the vampire loves not to introduce them...
