What is the business? How to carry out an economically sustainable activity? Are there economically sustainable activities without exploiting other human beings? Is there a way in our economic system to transform the dependency on money and holiday dynamics?
In the last week, I've had two technology-related news stories that have different implications for people in business creation. On the one hand, OpenAI has abolished the ban on military use of ChatGPT for war. I read the news on the web Intercep, where the director of the institute Sarah Myers West AI Now has stated that "the use of artificial intelligence systems to attack civilians in Gaza has made the use of OpenAI a good time to decide to take the words of military and war from politics."
On the other hand, using the technologies and business models used by capitalism, social organizations seeking alternatives to capitalist dynamics pose the following question: Can you create business models that empower people rather than exploit? The way we consume has changed a lot, we buy more online. Services contracted over the Internet are increasing, as are the search for people for work. In this dynamic have appeared specialized platforms in different tasks: people management platforms that bring you food from one place to another, people management platforms that can take you from one place to another by car... They are accused of precariousness, as the people who work for these platforms are only instruments. How can we turn this reality around? By providing services that require low-skilled labour, it is intended to create business models through platforms that rely on workers who use technology intensively. Adapting to current consumption patterns, leveraging the benefits technology can bring and empowering workers. I'm not sure it's feasible, how are you going to have power when you work on a technology that you can't influence?
