For any lefties interested in Argentine politics, last Sunday night was a terrible night. They held elections. Fear was sown in the primaries called PASO, as the far-right triumphed in its craziest version. We got together vibrating each other in front of your computer, if the tragedy was not the blackest (winning Milei in the first lap), if the tragedy did not happen (having the second lap to Bullrich-Milei on the right), with the intention of making us very happy. Neither one happened, the second round will be between Massa, candidate for Peronism, and Milei, ultra-right. And I'm not happy.
Milei defines himself as anarchapitalist, is liberal, is a theoretical economist, from the Austrian school. Everything is putting a vintage enough to fill the gaps left by current political speeches, from left to right. Milei steals to the Spanish left one of the key words to move the masses: the caste. And the point is that the successful speeches that fill the voids of left speech and practice and reality do not come from the vintage left (say, some communist group that has been stuck in the 19th and 20th centuries). It is far-right and not with more recent formulas.
Peronism does not present a candidate from the left, as Massa is liberal. Grabois competed against him in the primaries, a humanist denominator. One of Argentina’s major problems is inflation, the weight value and the lack of dollars (to pay the debt). Grabois warns: The dollarization proposed by Milei is an impossible madness, but it is also a wrong solution, but one. And people need a solution.
Let's do it. What war is leaving without giving our left? Are we talking about migration? Are we talking about the post-emancipation deception that Europe has been? Are we talking about nationalising at least four basic things? The awkward battles we don't give will not go unhanded. If we're not left-handed, the people who need a left are left with nothing. And it will need solutions. Peronism decides to present Massa in Argentina not to wage these battles, thinking that a right-wing social democracy will give less fear. But those who don't need solutions. And maybe just Milei.
