Zomorrotu is the second collection of adult stories edited by Aintzane Usandizaga. Page 77 explains what a bicheus is: what happens “after having been fascinated by someone”, losing interest, getting bored, becoming everyday. However, the cover illustration of Pili Aguado’s book brings us another reading: a person half-shows the naked face that appears when lifting his costume or mask. Because that's what we're going to find in this book. People, lifestyles, relationships or jobs idealized by some characters will lose shine and suddenly appear with lights and shadows.
These are five long narratives, divided into sections, in which some characters appear in more than one story. Alternatively, they will be first-, second- or third-class characters. The story of Mai and Maddalen is perhaps the one with the most centrality, and I've been eager to know more about Ojo. That's why I think it's not a novel, because to do so, we need to develop more networks between characters and the threads of stories.
Achilles and The best we could do are the most rounded. Simmer until the final blow. As we move forward in life, we can see how easy it can fall or, if you will, how we could knock it down. Moreover, these texts allow us to reflect on the family and work, two areas and networks of relationships that are basic pillars in our society. These stories also give us time to reflect on affective sexual relations and friendship, as the author provides a series of situations that occur in youth and maturity, and between these two ages.
Reading L I have enjoyed the good humor of the author and some of his images, such as strips and two between the protagonist and the teacher of the self-school.
But the most interesting thing is the bicheus or fall of the costume on the leaves. What to do when personal vulnerability appears? After realizing your old fantasy? When you meet the person you admire? If the opportunity comes to fulfill dreams? When do you keep the wheel of your life?
