All that is done and offered for research on childhood cancer and rare diseases is little. It is important that we all, as far as possible, work together towards this goal.
Many non-profit associations try to improve the lives of children with this type of disease. Among other things, the Columbus Foundation was created in 2017 to help children with cancer or rare diseases achieve the most advanced and effective therapies to improve their life expectancy and quality of life. In addition, this Foundation works in the promotion and dissemination of culture and science, through activities that allow getting closer to sociedad.En this sense, the
Columbus Foundation organizes the RenHagan 2023 festival, with the aim of helping children who need it, encouraging research and spreading culture. For a few days, this festival has offered some beneficial concerts to obtain funds to enable them to carry out their activities.
One of these concerts took place in the Bilbao Philharmonic Society, in its concert hall. This room was built in 1904 by the architect Fidel Iturria. It is one of the oldest chamber in Europe and with the best acoustics. Important recordings have been made such as the first version of the Iberia Suite of Alicia de Larrocha, which this year marks the centenary of the birth of this great pianist.
They recited the violinist Vasko Vassilev and the magnificent mezzo María José Montiel, the second with the pianist Miquel Estelrich, both in the stock photo. As expected in this type of concerts, the repertoire performed was nice, very nice and varied for the public.
The first part of the concert was the work of French composers. Pieces of Bizet, Massenet and Saint-Saëns interpreted with great taste and affection by Bulgarian mezzos and violinists.
In the second part, the two soloists felt very satisfied with the pieces they performed. The three pieces of 7 popular Spanish songs of Falla sung by Montiel adapt perfectly to their dark and expressive voice.
Vassilev demonstrated his great technique and musicality in Aires gitanos de Sarasate.
The session ended with two visits: From the play Ten Basque melodies of Guridi, entitled Ala, sung great in Basque by Montiel, and The day that is me tango. The public, unfortunately little, was delighted.
