Post-rock, post-punk, post-hardcore... They are umbrellas from the past. Few know exactly what they cover and what they do not, who is wet and who has left. And, paradoxically, one of my children described it in a very graphic way with innocencies of 7-8 years (or perhaps before listening to Latin music… ji-ji): “Punk or hardcore with drama.” Right! Almost all the groups we prefer post have drama, a dark burden beyond the melancholy or the urgency, that separates them, makes them more interesting and often enigmatic.
Moreover, creation is based on drama or internal pain. And it is important, when it comes to storing or leaving, from here or there, to wager on the second. That is what Ibai Gogortza, a Beratarra who has been and is immersed in dozens of musical projects (Joseba Irazoki Eta Lagunak, Mice, Joseba B Lenoir, Satelitik…), has done in the beat he has followed to publish after writing his own songs. Besides writing words and music, he took charge of guitar and voice (for the first time at once) Gogortza, elegantly accompanied by Iñigo Telletxea in the bass and Mattin Arbelaitz in the drums.
Gogortza and Telletxea are also part of the combat team, that is, music and life projects, and Arbelaitz, neighbor of the local essay. See, it is essential that in some song there is a Santos' mark, but the result of nine songs goes beyond: the trio is fine in the construction of pieces that combine very open shades in textures, environment, intensity and interior. There are manual, strong moments, playful rhythms, Malenconic riffs, penetrating intensities, heavy industrial, winding moments, poetry and special suit elaborated by Xabi Erkizia, among others. Apparently,
these are drafts etched with Iñigo Irazoka without wanting to spin a lot, who wanted to keep the freshness and get them trapped. So we will have to look more at what the post is!
