In our daily lives screens have a very high presence. How many times do we look at the phone during the day? What about the tablet, computer or television?
Fortunately, more and more screens are being talked about. In a couple of weeks we have read in the written press some reference to them three times. When reading them, we have doubts: What are we talking about when we talk about screens? From what point of view do we talk about screens?
In recent times, unfortunately, the demand for the promotion of Euskera on screens has been limited to both streaming platforms and audiovisual television. In fact, when you talk about the content of social media around screens, it's usually seen as an external threat.
The network, and particularly social networks, has been mentioned as a tool that opens the doors to hegemonic languages, such as Spanish, French or English, as in the past with rock. But today, is rock not part of Basque music? How many people have approached Euskera thanks to this musical style that was once considered a threat to our language?
As the network has been expanding its presence in our daily life, projects have been created with the Basque in the center. As the Hertzainak or Zarama rock groups did in their day, there are people who are creating content on screens in Basque, we are translating into Basque the audiovisual we like and fans of video games, role, manga and anime, cinema and tools like Kodi we have created meeting spaces taking advantage of the possibilities offered by the Network. We have organized and started without anyone telling us anything, while from the speakers it is said that screens are the end of the world.
In a linguistic community such as ours, the possibilities offered by the Network for the enjoyment and normalization of language cannot be neglected.
More and more people are making the way to live in Euskera on the Internet, creating content on social networks such as Youtube, Twitch, Tik Tok or Instagram, or working for advanced movies, series or video games to be in Euskera.
However, today, most Basques consume social networks, streaming platforms or travel in Spanish and we search in Spanish. Because we often don't know if the content of what we like is in Basque, and if there is where or how it can be found.
As it is still necessary to discuss screens, in a linguistic community such as ours, the possibilities offered by the Network for the enjoyment and normalisation of language cannot be disregarded.
For this reason, it is very important to promote projects and contents with Euskera in its center: making the work of the creative contents of the different social networks known, promoting communities in Euskera on specific topics, knowing and expanding tools such as Zer Ikusi or translating it to Euskera, consuming for example those that bend or subtitle. Therefore, as we want to live in Basque, it will be important to know and take into account these spaces.

This weekend I've been thinking about the word 'aesthetic' in relation to a phrase said by a friend: “This work is aesthetic.” I have studied the etymology of the word aesthetic, it seems that its meaning was originally perceived through the senses, and it was later associated... [+]
