Late retirement and longer working hours
What is the thought of the small trace of the complaints made on 28 April and that their only succession is the continuous chain of accidents and deaths of workers. In Azkoitia, once again in construction, a 62-year-old worker dies in a very common and therefore avoidable accident. Trade unions have focused on the lack of prevention and the responsibility of the company in protecting the health and lives of workers. It is necessary that such accidents would not occur (at least with current frequency and ease) if basic measures are taken.
But there is another border that makes more death: that the worker should be enjoying retirement, not on a scaffold. Retirement at 62 was possible and common not long ago. However, these times have been left behind, as last year there were fewer pre-retirement applications than ever and there has been a deepening of the trend of a significant delay in the retirement age.
In addition to reducing pension provision, the reform process aimed at shortening the period of pension entitlement is being fruitful in the results. And in the conclusions, because there is no choice but to resort to the private system to retire on time. There is therefore no reason to link the fight of the pension system with decent employment.
When we exceed age, it is necessary to remember that in many professions it is a risk factor, but it is not the only problem. The delay in retirement age is an extension of working time which takes us longer to the labour market, although the situation requires a reduction in working time.
