Perhaps those of you who have young children know the dynamics of the corners that occur in the classroom in Early Childhood Education. In it, children can move in a continuous dynamic of exploration, experimentation, learning and sharing. Corners have different themes, materials, tools, and kids can do different things in each of them, or mix things, creating new game dynamics with what they have. I am not an expert in education, but when I think about a learning environment, I do not have a room, nor a screen so used today… The corners of Early Childhood Education, materials, instruments and relationships come to mind. The corners of Early Childhood Education are for me an inspiration.
Technology has spread in education to become necessary to understand the world. Since Primary School they are already experimenting with different technologies, especially programming. In learning technologies, educators have understood the need to do so. We are acquiring knowledge by doing so. Currently, these processes of technology development are adapted to the limited realities of the centers, everything is limited to units of knowledge: Kits, projects... Perhaps this is the most effective way to control the learning process.
But without Kits, without closed projects -- what if students were offered a technology learning environment? What if, just as young children play freely in corners, young people had technological corners where they experimented, explored technologies with other young people and people, and moved away from closed kits and processes? How would such a dynamic transform our educational system? What about the forms of technological creation? The societies we live in?
