We have come with time. No one else fits in with the Arizkunenea Chamber of Elizondo and, as I have been told, they have stayed out as far as we are inside. Olaia Inziarte plays at home today. At home and in small format, a double challenge.
As soon as I took the place I had a flash ten years ago, when with the conservatory chamber equipment I got to step on that stage (and especially when I didn’t do it well). He got out in the trio to the Inziarte camera, accompanied by Ander Unzaga on the keyboard and the piano and Erik Deza on the guitar. I couldn't help but put myself in place and I got nervous, but I started singing and I thought, "Nothing is going to fail, I trust 100 percent." This has happened to me with others, but never with anyone as young as Inziarte. I've finished the first song and I've looked at my partner, we're flipping.
Taking advantage of the qualities of the three-format, the singer has had the opportunity to present his songs calmly and bring the audience closer. Only with the first gets the second. It's impossible to hear Olaia and say three sentences and not think a fucking mother for yourself. It's impossible not to want to be your friend.
She sings to the pains themselves and to the pains of others, to amatxi, to suicide, to those who speak unknowingly and to Lagun, because to sing the deepest and most important themes you don't have to get too far from day to day. Inziarte's album has several collaborations, not usually usual in a first job. And I was a little afraid of how I was going to bring them all to the stage in the threesome. I have seen straight away that it does not need much more than itself.
The question of transmission, the peripheries, the genealogies of the referents and all these coarse words are on the table, and the day before I had a trip with two young Baztanese friends. And they explained to me that Baztan has always been linked to “vasquity”, but that they, for example, are not represented in the world of Basque music until now, and were very happy with Olaia’s contribution in that sense (also). That if someone took that role Olaia. Now I understand better why.
I got out of the concert and I did not know what to say, but I was clear that it was the strongest concert I have seen in the last two or three years. And it's been a pleasure to discover that even without going too far from home, there's someone to admire and learn from who. The Oronian did not play this stage since the time of the music school, and tells us that today's one has dismissed its bitter memory. And like him, others too.
