- We often hear from the screen and from the other side of the microphone, talking about science in general or scientific news. Galarraga works to facilitate the understanding of how difficult it is for many. Aware that much of society looks reluctantly at science, he recommends that it abandon prejudice because science is part of everyday life. Although we're not conscious, it's always with us. Because information is power, science is power. He has also created a performance by Frankenstein with Soloist Petti.
How did it start in Elhuyar? I studied veterinarians in Zaragoza
and after Food Science in Vitoria. I did little jobs there and here, but I didn't like it. Elhuyar took a scholarship to spread science and introduced me there. Since then I have been here. I've always wanted to read, write and talk. That is why I believe that I currently have a job that brings my hobbies together.
You're currently a reference science communicator. It costs, but I think that women are
also gaining reference. It is difficult to get rid of the burden imposed on us by the system itself. Shame, doubt, presumed incapacities… The process of empowerment is usually long, but fortunately I would say that we are more and more women.
I am referring to what is happening at the moment, to issues that are very topical. Everything goes very fast and we believe it is essential to understand what happens. In the scientific field too, we must be able to respond to the needs of the moment as a Basque.
Double challenge in science and Euskera? The hardest thing to talk about science is to take people out of prejudice. I know that science is complex, like economics and politics. Our challenge is to overcome prejudice and be understandable. Rather than explaining curious things,
we provide keys to understanding reality. Science is also information. To the extent that information is power, understanding science is also power of information. It is important to understand science and technology, more in the current social model. And I do it because it's in Basque, with a lot of pleasure.
How do you work terminology? We often have to make decisions and work with both universities
and Euskaltzaindia. Euskera must also assume new terminologies such as other languages. Fortunately, there are already many words we have captured. “Neanderthals,” for example, we used to write with “h”: “Neanderthals.” And we bet on eliminating the ‘h’, transforming the original name. Euskera is not outside the world and evolves like other languages. It has sufficient legitimacy and prestige to make such decisions. If not, they become strangers and in the end we will not do them all.

What is science today? Researchers study what gives results or economic achievements. That is where the investments are made. Current research is closely related to health and/or energy. They get funding because, ultimately, they're interesting to the Western
heterosexual white man. The research benefits those who can afford the result. But science starts from curiosity and knowledge.
Fortunately, outside that mainstream, you also do basic science, but it's not the majority. Science needs economic support. It is also researched in the Basque Country, in the university and in specialized centers. I would say that a special force must be made at global level so that everything that has been studied is for the benefit of society as a whole.

Science and culture, and now Frankenstein? Since I was a
kid, I'm passionate about literature. In the age of the pandemic, when we couldn't leave the house, I went to the books I had at home. And with Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley, she published the Petti Manipulation Strategy. I heard every time, I remembered the novel. Both works refer to strategies of manipulation, ethics, morality, etc. used in society. I contacted Petti to discover my occurrences and sensations. Shortly afterwards, they proposed to participate in the lunar (H)moon and he hooked me up. Believing that it was an unbeatable date, to bring the work together and thus be able to bring to light Frankestein. And we did. For the first time, I went on stage with the illusion of a young child. With blind confidence, not knowing how the result would be, the experience was wonderful. And what people told us later.
As comfortable as after mic on
the tabside? Yes, very comfortable. I really like it. I've also done theater in Zarautz. I think it's an ideal discipline for experimentation. The feeling of freedom has awakened me.
I have never had any special intention on the stage. But it has happened. And we're happy where they call us. Theatre, musical dance, text… You can integrate whatever you want. We have now brought music and text together.
Frankenstein
Not afraid to rise to the stage, Petti faces a new challenge with the Navarre soloist. From the historical novel, the artistic duo manages to integrate with music. “They have welcomed us warmly from the beginning. What we offer is special and different. We ask questions, reflections and approaches for each to cast the keys to think and reflect on them”. Cultivating feelings through culture and art is beautiful. Its premiere took place in 2022 and hopes that this year will be fruitful. Galarraga does not lose neither laughter nor illusion behind the microphone nor on the tarima.
