Mega means one million. One million units. For a long time we have been in our eco-social debates, and in this time or historical juncture megaprojects, megameprojects, energy megawatts, megabeletxe, megawatts, megawatts of our mobile phones and megawatts of electrical installations have become daily. Recently, the Tapia Law referred to plants under 50 megawatts that can be managed at the autonomous level to indicate the same. Now, the central state has launched an ordago in these megacentals to prevent citizen control or environmental protection as a barrier. These laws are far from democratic logic and there is a surplus of municipalities and the local population. They have to occupy the territory, but nothing else.
Russia is the excuse. On the contrary, the huge Next Generation economic funds created by the European Union after COVID-19, which will increase public debt more than ever, are an excellent opportunity to invest in energy meganegions. Only in this way can we understand the avalanche of these megacentals, as we have seen in the magnificent films As bestas and Alcarrás.
Of the energy transition many speak, but they do not mean the same, but sometimes the opposite. For us, what will necessarily come along the road of slowdown, for other political and economic players, can be a great opportunity to do new business on behalf of all.
