Poetic to decipher the politics of things
Things do politics in the first work of Anari Alberdi Santesteban. Perhaps it is worth mentioning: throughout the narratives things do politics, not metaphorically, but quite literally. The things of Gari and Goroldiko published by Susa do not live in an apparently human world. Things are not ours. On the contrary, we live in them. We are yours.
It is the result of the circular path of sewer medications and the planetary effects of plastic bags to the sea. We move in geopolitical capsules called buses and we're moved by replacement automata. And we “are animals that every so many hours we need a plug.”
In each succession of coffee the conquest and colonial massacre of the centuries enter. And the last economic crisis is seen in the shop windows of closed shops. The night is the most desired garbage truck and “the memory of the locals who became objects of the camera”.
All this in a simple story. A phone call. The road trip that causes this call from Euskal Herria from moss to the brain. And the drain of the family home at destination. But history may not be the most important.
The anthropocentric, androcentric and imperial view of the capitalist productive system is the one that constantly permeates the descriptions of the smallest actions. In the most mundane everyday objects are condensed all the power relations that cross us. That's the poetics of how to look at the things of Gari and Goroldiko.
At least, Anari is a view that has been developing since Karl Marx placed the famous wooden table on its feet and made it dance. It's a look that Donna Haraway developed when she talked about ordinary cibororg. One look is the one that delves into the complicated stories that things and human beings share.
It is no small thing: the materialistic view of the narratives allows us to think of power differently. That's the poetics of the book: a literary map renewed to feel our oppositions.
